Review: Dead Body Love – Retrocuts

Dead Body Love - Rectrocuts

„Retrocuts“ is a compilation of out-of-print material from the extensive Dead Body Love backcatalog, originally released on tape. Gabriele himself compiled the material and transfered it from tape to digital-medium. No remastering or remixing (besides checking the meters) so „Retrocuts“ should be quite near to the original sound.

Most of you should be familiar with the overall sound of Dead Body Love, but for the not knowing few: Harshest noise, gritty, dense and raw. Massive walls of sound, violent feedback, sheetmetal carnage and all of it in it’s rawest and dirtiest form.

The tracks on the compilation are „Human Waste“ (from „Horrors Of The Human Body“, 1996), „Body Jigsaw“ (from „In Your Ears“ compilation, 1998), „Armageddon Sector“ („Annihilation Devices pt. II“, 1998), „Crime Against The Gods“, „Open Sore“ (both from „Stand In Blood“, 1995), „Skinned And Pierced“ („Horrors Of The Human Body“ again) and „Torture King“ (recorded live in 1996, unreleased).

The tracks go together very well. „Retrocuts“ could easily be a regular album. Quality level of the gathered material is high throught the whole playing time, as is the sound quality.

The disc is limited to 100 copies. Contact Less Than Zero recordings via e-mail to giuliani9@gmail.com to place your order.
